At SAGAPS, we provide consultancy, capacity building, research and analysis services in gender, governance, and social impact. We support governments, civil society, and purpose-driven for-profit entities in fostering inclusive, resilient communities through expertise in peacebuilding, urban health, sustainable cities, and the interconnected challenges of climate change, health, conflict, and development.

SAGAPS & Rotary

At SAGAPS, we are proud to work in close partnership with the Rotary Peace Foundation to promote positive peace through concrete, community-based initiatives.

Together, we are building the Peace House in Naples in Italy - a space dedicated to empowering women in peace processes and conflict-affected settings.

This center will serve as a hub for dialogue, learning, and action. It is part of our broader initiative called “Women in Equality for Lasting Peace”, which aims to support women as key agents of change in peacebuilding efforts worldwide.

District 2101 Campania After the first informal meetings held starting from the spring of 1924, the association was officially founded and presented to the city in the first convivial meeting which took place on 11 December 1924 under the presidency of Francesco Bertolini, at the hotel of the same name. Rotary soon spread: also thanks to the contribution of the Rotary Club of Naples, the clubs of Palermo (1924) and Bari (1935) came to life. In 1955 District 87 was divided into 4 Districts, territorially smaller, including that of Southern Italy (whose denomination was 93 and 190 over time). In 1977, District 190 was divided into two: the regions of continental Southern Italy (Campania, Basilicata, Calabria and Puglia) became District 210, while Sicily became District 211. A subsequent administrative division took place in 1992 within District 210: Campania, Calabria and the Territory of Lauria form District 2100, while Puglia and Basilicata form District 2120

Makerere University host the first Rotary Peace Center on the African Continent. It is the seventh Rotary Peace Center in the world that offers Postgraduate Diploma in Peace-building, Conflict Transformation, and Development hosted by the Makerere University Peace and Conflict Studies Program (PCS). Sara and Victoria both founders of the SAGAPS are among the 40 fellowers awarded annually for the Professional Development Certificate program at the Makerere Rotary Peace Center, Kampala, Uganda. The Makerere Rotary Peace Center is hosted by Makerere University, one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Africa. Makerere University is composed of nine colleges offering programs for about 35,000 undergraduates and 3,000 postgraduates. Professional development certificate program During the one-year blended learning program, experienced peace and development professionals with diverse backgrounds gain practical skills to promote peace within their communities and across the globe. Fellows complete field studies, and they also design and carry out a social change initiative. This program is intended for working professionals.

This conference will once again symbolize the close collaboration between Rotary and UNESCO, a solid partnership since 1945. Gordon R. McInally, along with UNESCO representatives, will share their perspectives on the importance of this commitment for humanity. Education is a fundamental human right that has the power to transform our societies and is the cornerstone of peace and sustainable development. In partnership with local stakeholders, our members support projects that strengthen basic education and teachers’ professional development. To respond to the global climate and environmental crisis, education must be transformed to equip every learner with the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes needed to combat climate change and promote sustainable development. The Rotary Positive Peace Activator Program provides selected individuals the opportunity to gain concrete knowledge & resources to foster peace and access to a global network of likeminded peacebuilders. Serving as a Rotary Positive Peace Activator is a unique opportunity to be part of a larger movement to help build peace at local, community levels, working in partnership with Rotary members, Rotary International, and the Institute for Economics & Peace
