On 22 November, SAGAPS delivered a training on Positive Peace to representatives of Rotary, District 2101, Italy.
The modular training, titled “Fundamentals of Positive Peace: Practical Tools for Educators and Project Professionals”, combined in-person practical sessions with online thematic modules on corruption and health.
- Module 1 introduced the concepts of Positive and Negative Peace, using group activities and discussions to analyse conflict and emphasise the importance of equitable resource distribution.
- Module 2 focused on building strong relationships and understanding the Theory of Change, featuring practical exercises, role-playing scenarios, and group discussions to reinforce key concepts.
- Module 3 explored systems thinking, highlighting the Positive Peace pillar of low corruption, with particular attention to the health sector. It demonstrated how corruption erodes trust in institutions and poses a threat to security and peace. Participants reflected on how corruption interplays with other pillars and the complex interests involved.
The training provided participants with practical tools to strengthen peacebuilding and social development, addressing two critical global challenges: economic well-being, shaped by political factors, and social well-being, particularly universal health access. It also equipped them with the skills to design measurable, innovative projects that promote solidarity and positive social change.
This course is part of SAGAPS’ ongoing commitment to empowering governmental and non-governmental actors to create sustainable, positive peace. By equipping participants with practical tools and strategies, SAGAPS supports the development of more resilient, inclusive, and just societies.
